Flitwick Leisure Centre Temporary Closure – Monday 4 August
Flitwick Leisure Centre was closed for part of today (4 August) due to a major water tank leak. The leak caused flood damage in the bar and elsewhere, affecting the electrics.
Stevenage Leisure Ltd (SLL) who manage the facility in partnership with Mid Beds District Council, arranged for engineers to attend immediately and they fixed the damage extremely quickly, allowing the leisure centre to be re-opened at 3pm the same day. It is believed that the leak was caused by a broken valve on a cold water pipe.
Jon Stone, Corporate Marketing Manager for SLL said: “We apologise to anyone wishing to use the leisure centre earlier today. We made a major effort to reduce any inconvenience to our customers by contacting as many as possible to alert them to the closure.”
Tim Herod, Leisure Development Officer for Mid Beds District Council said: “We are extremely pleased the situation has been rectified so quickly and thank Stevenage Leisure for their quick action and hard work to get everything dried out so that the centre could re-open today.“
